    THAIPUSAM \u2013 28th JANUARY 2021<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

    Thaipusam is a key Hindu ceremony that is held each year during the full moon in the tenth month of the Hindu calendar \u2013 falling from mid-January to mid-February in the Gregorian calendar. It is marked in Malaysia by a public holiday.<\/strong><\/p>\n

    Thaipusam traditionally falls on a full moon. The celebration is held as a tribute to the Hindu god of war,\u00a0Lord Murugan, honoured in sacred lore for slaying three evil demons in the name of good virtue.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

    Christmas is a Christian festival celebrating the birth of Jesus.\u00a0Christians in Malaysia celebrate Christmas by way of meals with family and friends on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day, along with gift-giving, music, singing, church events and prayer.<\/strong><\/p>\n

    More broadly, Malaysian society celebrates Christmas with colourful displays in shopping malls for one or two months before Christmas Day and with a public holiday on the 25th & 27th December.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>
